Back to the days of tumbleweed and saloon bars, this park gives you a taste of the Wild West. You can even see some classic western cowboy memorabilia (courtesy of the Western TV show Gunsmoke). The RV park is set in Dodge City, Southwest Kansas, once the home of gunslinger Wyatt Earp. The campground offers 43 full hook-up pull-throughs and 32 back-in/pull-in RV sites. A generous amount of trees allows you to enjoy some cooling shade in this countryside retreat. The well-stocked general store serves immediate needs, and there is a pool, playground, and game room to keep the family busy. Gunsmoke RV Park has won several awards and prides itself on its cleanliness. During your stay, head to the Boot Hill Museum and learn about the frontiers of the past. The appeal for this resort is that it’s on the smaller side for those wanting a quiet, restful getaway. Found in the emerald countryside of Northeastern Kansas, it’s 15 minutes away from the historic town of Leavenworth.
With 23 lawned sites available, park up next to Suncatcher Lake and let time stand still. The natural bird and wildlife will entertain you as you exhale and relax.

If you can manage to drag yourself away, why not visit Leavenworth, it’s the oldest city in Kansas and steeped in history. Admire the European and Victorian architecture of vintage buildings, ride a carousel, or picnic on the banks of the Missouri River
Deer Creek Valley RV Park, Topeka
This RV park is in Topeka, the capital city of Kansas, but in a quiet area where you can be assured well-earned peace. It’s a beautifully landscaped park with trees, laundry, and clean utilities. Children can swim in the pool or burn off some energy in the playground. There are 54 pull-throughs and five back-in RV sites with WiFi and cable TV options. If you’re traveling with children and want to explore nearby attractions, this is the perfect place to set up base camp. Just 1.5 miles away is Lake Shawnee, for a fun fix on the water, offering jet skiing, paddle boating, and fishing. On the west side of the scenic Lake Shawnee is the Ted Ensley Botanical Gardens. The Gardens provides a remarkable setting of 37.5 acres of panoramic views, 1200 perennials to admire, and meandering pathways to stroll along. There are 30 amp electrical hook-ups. There are no pull-through sites, but there are plenty of inviting grassy spots.
Feel free to bring your boat and launch it from the slipway. Fishing from the bank is a breeze as well.
This public land is a preserve for wildlife in the area. You can visit the education center to see what goes into caring for the many land and water species.
