Cave Country RV Campground
Kentucky is one of the closest cities to Mammoth Cave National park and home to the Mammoth Cave Wildlife Museum. This campground offers full hook-up services with sewerage and water. In Summer, the pool is open for swimming, and there’s an on-site pavilion used for quiet picnics and larger gatherings. Situated in the heart of horse country, Whispering Hills has wonderful views and a calm, soothing environment. This RV park has full hook-ups in both back-up and pull-through options across an incredible 230 large and easily accessible sites, all of which have 30 and 50 amp electric connections. Bathhouses have individual bathrooms for privacy, there are basketball courts and play areas for outdoor fun, and a book exchange with DVD rentals for indoor days. Also located in Frankfort, along the hills of north-central Kentucky, is Elkhorn Campground. Within short proximity to many of the popular Midwestern cities and with access to the beautiful countryside, there are 125 sites. 61 have full hook-up, which includes electric, water, sewer, and cable TV.
The full campground is open during the Summer months of April to October, while only a limited number of sites are available during the winter. There’s a playground located along Elkhorn Creek, and you can go fishing without leaving the grounds. Renfro Valley KOA
Mount Vernon, home to Renfro Valley, recognized with both the President’s and Founders Awards, is a must-visit site on your journey along the Appalachian Mountains. There are a total of 122 sites. Choose either pull-through or back-up spots of up to 70 feet with full hook-ups and access to 20, 30, or 50 amp electric connections as well as cable and Wi-Fi. Delux sites have private patios, patio furniture, picnic tables, and some have fire rings. This campground offers a seasonal pool, mini-golf, sports fields, gem mining, a game room, a book exchange, and an arcade room. There’s a music barn with karaoke and often planned activities during themed weekends. Don’t forget the pizza and wings either if you decide not to cook for yourself in the kitchen provided.
