Duro Extreme Dirt Track ATVA Nationals Round 3

Round 3 of the Duro Tires Extreme Dirt Track Series was held June 14 in Danville, Va., at the Birch Creek Motorsports Park.

Heavy rains came late Saturday afternoon with several of the youth and amateur main events still left to run, as well as all of the Pro and Pro Am heats and main events. With more rain in the forecast for Saturday evening and Sunday, it did not look promising that the event would be completed. However, the rains went around the area and Carl Reynolds and his crew did a great job of preparing the track for the remaining racers.

In the Pro class, The Bumble Bee, Harold Goodman, took his Houser Racing Honda to a big win. Goodman lead from start to finish and extended his points lead with his second win in a row after finishing second in round 1. Michael Coburn followed Goodman on the track for the second straight race and moved into the second spot in the points. Brad Riley made it three for three in the third spot and remains in the third position in the points race ahead of first round winner Mitch Reynolds and Bryan, Ohio, rider Ryan Partee.

Round 3 podium

In the Pro Lites class, it was Goodman again taking the win, while local favorite Brandon Hill was on the podium for the first time this year with a second place finish. Michael Coburn was again in the mix, rounding out the podium ahead of Chuckie Creech and Zac Willett. Goodman now leads the points race ahead of Coburn and Kendall Webb, while Mitch Reynolds and Creech round out the top five.

In the Pro Am class Brad Riley was again on the Podium for his third-straight second-place finish behind Jordan Rummage, who made his first appearance of the series. Brandon Sullenger finished in third, while Brandon Shipman and Kristopher Bures were also in the top five. Riley has the points lead over Kendall Webb, Bures, Garrett Jackson, and Shipman.

The series will move to Franklin, Pa., for round 4 on Friday July 4th. Practice will be on Thursday evening followed by racing on Friday. The make-up day, if needed, will be on Saturday July 5th.
