Goodman in action

After round 2 of the Duro Extreme Dirt Track ATVA Nationals in Brownstone, Illinois, was postponed due to rainy weather, all of the circuits riders were anxious to get back to the competition. With rain once again in the forecast for the May 31 weekend at Ozark Mountain ATV Raceway in Ava, Missouri, track owner/promoter Roy Reed had his crew ready to push the races through at a record pace to ensure that all the classes were able to run both their heats and mains.

Even with two short rain delays and the track having to be rolled in twice, all of the Amateur and Youth classes were completed by 4:30 p.m. Saturday leading to the Pro and Pro-Am racing.

When the Pro riders hit the track it was Harold Goodman and Danny McGraw taking wins in the two-heat races. In the main event, Danny McGraw once again jumped out front with the holeshot only to be quickly passed by Michael Coburn. The buzz of the Bumble Bee, however, Harold Goodman, was in earshot of all the riders and he quickly took the lead and never looked back.

The Pro podium

Goodman, from Romulus Michigan, finished out front followed by Coburn, Brad Riley, Mitch Reynolds, who was the first round winner, and Ryan Partee all in the top 5. Goodman now has the points lead with Reynolds, Riley and Coburn all close and in the hunt.

In the Pro Lites class, Coburn again got the holeshot, followed by Reynolds and Kendall Webb. Goodman again had a slow start as he was in the seventh position. He was only able to work his way back to the third spot this time before Coburn took the checkered flag.

Reynolds maintained the second spot while Goodman was followed by Webb and Josh Hibdon, who rounded out the top five.

The top of this class is crowded in the points race with Webb leading the way by only two points over Goodman and Reynolds and five points ahead of Coburn.

In the Pro-Am Unlimited main event, Kendall Webb led from start to finish while Brad Riley worked his way through from the middle of the pack to finish second.

Josh Hibdon had his first podium finish of the year in the third spot and was followed by Garrett Jackson and Kristopher Bures. After the first two rounds, Webb has the points lead followed by Riley and Bures in third.

(Editor's note: Roy Reed, promoter /owner of Ozark Mountain ATV Raceway. received rave reviews from everyone about the facility, track design, efficiency, and friendly staff. This was a very well-run race. Congratulations to Reed and his crew.)
